The Property
O + L Farms is a beautiful & charming property boasting stunning, imported olive trees and a variety of lavender along the famous Stagecoach stop at Lansing’s Crossing. The site was a once a blacksmith shop for the stagecoaches and has a rich history, including a physical piece of a history - a 100 year old stone wall.
When you walk the grounds you'll find corners of quiet, picturesque backdrops, garden beds, nature at work, and special treasures that are uniquely O+L Farms, like our restored airstream - home to Farm Chic Radio.
Why cold pressed olive oil?
Because it's good for your health.
What is "extra virgin" olive oil? The added title refers to it's production and it's quality. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is cold-pressed olive oil. Its heatless and first press production allows it to retain a higher concentration of polyphenols, antioxidants, and vitamins - making it the highest quality of olive oil.
What is the best Extra Virgin Olive Oil for health? If you're looking for the best health benefits of olive oil, you want it to have a high level of polyphenols. Extra Virgin Olive Oil is high in natural antioxidants and polyunsaturated fats, and the higher the polyphenol levels the more antioxidants they have to benefit things like heart health, brain health, digestion, immunity, etc.
A "high polyphenol level" olive oil is considered to be an Extra Virgin Olive Oil with a level of 250 or higher. Our current Arbequina Extra Virgin Olive Oil polyphenol level is 226 and our Koroneiki Extra Virgin Olive Oil has 407 - deriving from the December 2024 harvest.
Friends at Work
In April of 2022, longtime friends Jennifer Wood and Randy Spendlove, along with his wife Alecia - Jennifer's lifelong friend - decided to come to the Santa Ynez Valley. The duo had a dream of growing olives, making olive oil, and creating a truly unique experience. Randy, a music executive in Los Angeles, and Jennifer, an interior design consultant from Montana, discovered a magical corner on Alamo Pintado Road in Los Olivos. With love and support of friends in the community they embarked on the journey which became Olive + Lavender Farms.
We are excited to share our passion for music, food, family and friends with all, and we invite you to come along on this journey with us.
